Moong Dal Idli Sambar || Yellow Lentils Sambar – RECIPE POST
This is an easier Sambar recipe, made with easily cooked moong dal or Yellow lentils and takes just 15 minutes to make.

This Sambar is very mildly spiced, more like a soup and the heat entirely comes from green chillies added in the lentils. This makes it very good for kids and people who are not fond of spicy Sambar. Also the buttery texture with fried onions from the tadka is everything.
This Yellow lentils sambar can be made in 3 quick steps. Check out the recipe below-

Ingredients

Moong dal/Yellow lentils – 1 cup, wash and keep in a pot
Onion – 1, roughly chopped
Green Chilli- 2 or more as needed
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Olive Oil – 1/2 tsp
Garlic cloves – 2
Water – 3 cups or more
Salt as needed for taste

For Tadka
Olive oil – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Sliced onion – 1 small
Dried Red chillies – 2nos
