Simplest way to get the peanut butter cups is to buy them. Yes, I know!! But how sure are you if they are healthy, sugar free. That they have no unknown preservatives and questionable ingredients? You can never know unless you make them homemade with ingredients organically sourced and you trust. Check out my recipe for the healthy 3 ingredients peanut butter cups.

As the heading of my this recipe post says, these are healthy. There are no added sugar, no dairy products but only the best chocolate you can get and peanut butter. Preferably homemade or a very good organic brand you trust to add in your plate.

Now that we have covered the chocolate and the peanut butter, the third ingredient is the coconut oil. Again, I don’t have to mention that you use good quality cold pressed coconut oil. Coconut oil is said to be a healthier choice than butter.

How to make the healthy 3 ingredients peanut butter cups?

You will need little silicone muffin moulds or muffin tray liners to get the cute markings in the butter cups. But we are just going to freeze the melted chocolate and the peanut butter together in layers, so don’t worry. You can make these little gems of a healthy snack in ice cubes mould too! you get the idea now.. don’t you?

First heat the coconut oil in a sauce pan. Take it off the stove, add the dark chocolate and close the lid of the pan. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Open and whisk to find the smoothest gently melted chocolate, no burnt chocolate. You can also microwave the oil and chocolate together in short bursts of 10 seconds until you get smooth melted chocolate. Keep the chocolate ready in a pouring jug.

Take a muffin tray or any piece of little dish you can freeze and demould the butter cups. Line them with muffin tray liners. Add the melted chocolate, so it coats the muffin liners. Add a teaspoon of peanut butter. Level it if you like – I like the rustic look though. Each one of its own shape and size, so it screams homemade – I made!! Cover it with another teaspoon of melted chocolate. Repeat until you have fully used up the chocolate.

Freeze until solid – snack on them whenever you want to eat something sweet but healthy.

Simple, easy healthy 3 ingredients peanut butter cups with dark chocolate and coconut oil that are so perfect to snack for your sweet cravings but healthily.

Ingredients

  • Dark Chocolate – 150 Grams

  • Coconut Oil – 3 tablespoons

  • Peanut Butter – 1 1/2 Cups [200 Grams]

  • Flaky Sea Salt – Optional to sprinkle on top

Directions

  • Gently heat the coconut oil and chocolate. Whisk until smooth. Do not burn the chocolate and overheat it.
  • Line a muffin tray with liners.
  • Add the melted chocolate, so it coats the muffin liners. Add a teaspoon of peanut butter. Level it if you like – I like the rustic look though. Each one of its own shape and size, so it screams homemade – I made!! Cover it with another teaspoon of melted chocolate. Repeat until you have fully used up the chocolate.
  • Freeze until solid – At least 2 hours.
  • Enjoy with a sprinkle of sea salt.

Notes

  • Store in freezer or refrigerator until use.
  • Add honey in the chocolate mixture if a sweetener is needed.
