Classic Strawberry Crostata || Easy Strawberry Galette

For those who have been reading my blog posts and recipes, you all know I Love Galettes. Well that’s an understatement, but I’m so crazy about galettes that I make them every other week for a healthier, easier dessert. I make them with almost every type of juicy fruits available in the season but I love strawberry galettes a lot more than the other ones. Because… STRAWBERRIES!! Strawberry Crostata -

Classic Strawberry Crostata || Easy Strawberry Galette

Strawberry season is not over until you make this delicious Classic Strawberry Crostata AKA Easy Strawberry Galette that is perfect for your brunch parties as the low sweet dessert.

For the Crust

  • 2 ¼ Cups [250g] All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp Caster Sugar
  • ¾ tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Cup [100g] Unsalted Butter [Cold & Cubed]
  • 4-5 tsp Icy cold water Adjust as needed

For the Filling

  • 2 Cups Strawberries [Hulled and Sliced]
  • 1/2 Cup Strawberry Jam
  • 2 tbsp Sugar Divided to sprinkle some on top before baking.
  • 1 tbsp Arrow Root Starch or Corn starch


  • In a large bowl add all the ingredients for the strawberry filling, mix and keep it aside.
  • In a mixing bowl add the flour, salt and sugar.
  • Add the cold butter and using a pastry cutter or your fingers rub the butter to the salt until the mixture looks crumbly but you still see pieces of the butter.
  • Add cold a teaspoon by teaspoon as needed and bring the dough together. DO NOT overwork.
  • Make the dough into a disc and wrap it in a baking sheet. Chill in freezer for 5 minutes.
  • Roll the chilled pastry dough into about 10 inches circle or square or any full shape.
  • Add the filling to the rolled dough, leaving a 2 cm margin all around.
  • Fold in carefully so the crust formed. Chill the dough and the filling together in the fridge while the oven is preheated at 190 degrees Celsius.
  • Bake at 190 degrees Celsius for 35 to 45 minutes.
  • Serve warm or cold with cream.
  • Enjoy


  1. Replace strawberries with any fruit of choice.
  2. Add more starch in the filling if you would like a thicker filling. This filling will thicken in fridge as it is. So carefully add more.
  3. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream, whichever you have in hand.
