Creamy Fruit Salad with Almond Gum – A Perfect Ramadan Iftar Treat

Ramadan evenings call for something cool, refreshing, and nourishing, and this creamy fruit salad is exactly that. Made with fresh seasonal fruits, soaked almond gum, condensed milk, saffron-infused milk, and crunchy sliced almonds, this dessert is rich, naturally sweet, and incredibly satisfying after a day of fasting.

The almond gum (badam pisin) adds a unique jelly-like texture while also helping to cool the body, making this fruit salad a wonderful choice for iftar during warm evenings. It takes only a few minutes to prepare and can be made ahead and chilled for the best flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed fresh fruits (apple, banana, grapes, pomegranate, mango, or any seasonal fruits), chopped
  • 2 tbsp soaked almond gum (badam pisin)
  • 3–4 tbsp condensed milk
  • ½ cup milk infused with a few strands of saffron
  • 2 tbsp sliced almonds
  • 1–2 tsp honey (optional, depending on sweetness of fruits)

Preparation

1. Prepare the almond gum
Soak almond gum in water overnight. By morning it will bloom and turn into soft, crystal-like jelly.

2. Chop the fruits
Cut the fruits into small bite-sized pieces. Use a mix of colors and textures for a beautiful salad.

3. Infuse the saffron milk
Warm the milk slightly and soak saffron strands for a few minutes until the milk turns fragrant and golden.

4. Assemble the salad
In a bowl, combine the chopped fruits and soaked almond gum. Pour in the condensed milk and saffron milk.

5. Add crunch
Sprinkle sliced almonds on top for a nutty texture.

6. Chill and serve
Mix gently and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Serve chilled for a refreshing iftar dessert.

Why This Is Perfect for Iftar
