Wheat Halwa

Wheat Halwa

## **Wheat Halwa – First Dessert from My New Kitchen**

Welcome to my new kitchen! Although we haven’t fully shifted yet, I couldn’t resist the urge to make a small dessert to mark the beginning of this new journey. With limited ingredients, a handful of utensils, and using whatever I could find in packages, I decided to prepare a simple yet delicious **Wheat Halwa**. This dish, made by slow-roasting wheat flour in ghee, sweetened with cane sugar, and topped with crunchy almonds, holds a special place in my heart as the first dessert I cooked here.

Here’s the full recipe so you can enjoy this humble but delightful halwa at home too!

### **Ingredients**
– **Wheat Flour** – ½ cup
– **Ghee (Clarified Butter)** – ¼ cup
– **Cane Sugar** – ⅓ cup (or as per taste)
– **Water** – 1 ½ cups
– **Chopped Almonds** – 2-3 tbsp (for garnish)

### **Instructions**

1. **Roast the Wheat Flour:**
In a pan, heat the ghee on medium flame. Once melted, add the wheat flour. Keep stirring continuously to ensure it doesn’t burn. Roast slowly until the flour turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma. This step is crucial as it enhances the flavor.

2. **Add Water:**
Lower the heat and carefully add water to the roasted flour, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. It will bubble initially, so be cautious!

3. **Sweeten with Cane Sugar:**
Once the mixture thickens, add the cane sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, and the halwa becomes glossy and smooth.

4. **Garnish:**
Turn off the heat, transfer the halwa to a serving bowl, and sprinkle chopped almonds generously on top.

5. **Serve:**
Enjoy warm and fresh! This halwa tastes best right out of the pan.

### **Notes & Tips**
– **Adjust sweetness** according to your preference by adding more or less cane sugar.
– For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of **cardamom powder** or a few strands of **saffron**.
– If you like a crunchy element, toast the almonds before adding them as garnish.

This dessert might be simple, but it’s full of warmth and flavor. Making this halwa in my new kitchen was an emotional and memorable experience. It’s proof that even with limited tools and ingredients, you can create something wonderful. If you try this recipe, do share your experience!
